AFM Disease is similar to Polio symptoms, Attacked the children in America

The vaccine successfully eradicating polio from the United States nearly four decades ago, but the new virus with symptoms similar to polio epidemic currently.

Acute myelitis flaccid (AFM), AFM disease with symptoms similar to polio, first appeared in the year 2014.

Now, the Center for disease control and Prevention (CDC) again explained that had occurred 50 cases the AFM recently in 24 countries this year. The bad news, 90% of the patients are children.

Unfortunately, scientists don't know much about this disease, but the AFM votes affect the spinal cord causing paralysis. In addition to the loss of control of the arms and legs, many patients are children who need a respirator to help to breathe.

Approximately 85% of patients are still in the recovery phase, only three patients have been cured and get full mobility.

 "AFM can come suddenly, " said Dr. Manisha Patel CNN.  "Symptoms include extreme weakness, facial weakness, and difficulty swallowing or talking."

AFM incubation period marked by high fever and respiratory disease. Five days later, the patient will experience pain in the arms and legs, and then become weak to move around like lame.

To keep You and the kids from this outbreak, the CDC recommends taking precautions:

• Get all the recommended vaccines, including the polio virus.

• Protect yourself against diseases that brought mosquitoes by using insect repellent. Because the AFM has been associated with West Nile virus.

• Wash your hands more frequently, especially after contact with sick people.

• If your child shows signs of AFM, like a body, limp not powered, immediately contact a doctor.
